Local authorities complaints about police deficiencies in Helmand

Beside U.S troops and national army presence in Nauzad district of Helmand province, they are not able to clear the regions that are threatened by armed insurgents and have secret security post due to lack of police forces in region, Nauzad district governor said.
Currently, only one hundred and twenty policemen are performing duties, which are not enough to maintain district security, a security official said.
Although, security authorities repeatedly stressed on security maintenance in this districts but have not work on their promises yet, local residents said.
Helmand security commander confirmed low number of police officials in mention district and said that they are looking to increase the number of police in Nauzad district.
National army is not able to control far away regions due to lack of police in this district, officials said.
Nauzad district is about hundred kilometers away far from Helmand’s capital Lashkar Gha and being control by security forces since last two years.
