The Afghan President Hamid Karzai welcomed the Pakistani government’s statement that they support the peace process led by the Afghans.
The Pakistani government issued a statement asking the armed Taliban, Hezb-e-Islami and other Afghan government opponents to refrain from war and join the Afghan government’s peace process. Hezb-e-Islami (HIA) leader Gulbadin Hekmatyar is also reported to be in favor of the peace process.
While talking to a press conference on Sunday, Afghan President Hamid Karzai lauded Pakistan’s and Hezb-e-Islami’s stance on the peace process and again called upon all anti-government militants join in the peace process.
While talking about US-Afghan strategic deals, President Hamid Karzai said, “The signing of a strategic alliance with the United States will have positive results in the development of Afghanistan”.
President Karzai added, “The recent decisions of the traditional Loya Jirga, particularly in respect to Afghanistan’s national sovereignty will be the government’s top priority”.
Political analysts believe that strategic alliance with the United States would improve Afghanistan’s political, economical and military capabilities and will bring peace and stability for the country.
