The new terminal and a new entrance gate were opened for passengers on Monday in Herat International Airport, officials said.
The cost of these two projects was about $2 million dollars. Both the United States and Italy paid for the Heart Airport improvements.
“The terminal of Herat International Airport was constructed for $800,000 and was paid for by the Italian government. The entrance gate of the airport for the passengers cost $1.2 million dollars and was funded by the United States” Herat Governor Dawood Saba said.
The Governor said with the opening of new terminal and airport entrance gate, all the problems of the passengers are resolved. He added that international flights to Dubai and New Delhi will soon commence from this airport.
Dawood Saba said the security system of the airport will soon improve and that other parts of the airport will be built to international standards.
