Foundation stone for new bridge laid in Faryab

Construction work of a new bridge that will cost $ 550,000 began on Thursday in Dawlat Abad district of northern Faryab province. Also, work began for women’s council facility.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Governor of Faryab Abdul Haq Shafaq said the construction of the bridge was an urgent need of the residents. He said the bridge would cost about $550,000 US dollars.
Local residents welcomed the construction of a bridge in the area, saying due to the lack of a bridge, during monsoon season the roads to the district, health clinics and schools are blocked.
The residents stated they have had been demanding the construction of a bridge for 50 years. They promised to cooperate with the government in its construction.
Meanwhile the construction work of a building for women’s council also began. The project will cost $52,000 dollars and will be funded by the Norwegian government and The Danish Committee for Aid to Afghan Refugees (DACAAR).
