Faryab residents warn of uprising if corruption not eliminated

The residents warn if the government fails to eradicate corruption and insecurity from Faryab province, they will rise themselves to combat these challenges.
Hundreds of Faryab residents including representatives of political parties and influential figures in a gathering on Monday strongly condemned the failures of security forces and government officials on counterterrorism and corruption.
Head of Faryab Provincial Council, Rahmatullah Turkestani, and head of Faryab Peace Council, Mullah Asadullah Jamali, said the high-profile assassinations have reached the provincial capital, Maimana, and the level of bribery and corruption has reached to increasingly unacceptable levels in the province.
The Deputy Governor of Faryab province Abdul Sattar Barez admitted the existence of some of the problems, saying majority of these concerns would be solved within fifteen days.
The security chief of Faryab Police Headquarter Abdul Rashid Basheer said the elements causing insecurity will be dealt with in a serious manner. However, he urged the residents to be more cooperative with the security forces in bringing increased stability.
President Karzai in his most recent decree directed all local bodies operating in the provinces to take serious measures to bring an end to corruption and existing problems.
