Exports increase by 50 % through Aqina port

The export of Afghan goods through Aqina Port to foreign countries has increased by 50 % in a month, Aqina customs officials said.
The import of goods at the Aqina Port facility has also increased when compared to previous years, c which signals an increase in custom revenues, Aqina Customs Chief Shahabuddin Bawar said.
He said that though the exports were exempted from taxes according to the presidential decree in order to stimulate domestic investment, the revenues from imports at this port has increased by 35% over last year.
Some of investors expressed satisfaction with facilities and services at Aqina port and said the government must strive to provide new equipments and facilities at this port in order to increase port use and stimulate continued investment.
