Security threats have been increasing as the Pakistani Taliban and armed rebel groups are entering eastern Nangarhar, Kunar and Nuristan provinces along with advanced and heavy weapons.
201st Selab Military Corps commander, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Zaman Waziri, said the armed rebels were equipped with modern weapons and entered Kunar and Nuristan provinces through Pakistan’s border areas. He said the insurgents after carrying attacks return back across the border.
Waziri said these areas were considered Taliban’s traffic routes from where they carried the armed attacks on Afghan security forces. He warned of hard days ahead.
He noted during the last some months, about 330 armed guerillas were killed, over 130 injured and nearly 160 others were detained along with their ammunitions by the Afghan security forces.
It’s said that the armed attacks and insecurity incidents have been increased after the third phase of security transition was implemented in these areas.
