Afghanistan’s Attorney General Muhammad Ishaq Aloko says he is being pressurized to release Abdul Qadeer, the member of Nangarhar Council.
Last Sunday on March 11, the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) arrested Jamal Qadeer on charges of usurpation of land and several other cases. The suspect is the bother of first deputy speaker of Wolesi Jirga Zahir Qadeer.
Attorney General MR. Aloko said some elements are trying to put pressure on him but he would never bow to pressure tactics by powerful individuals.
Jamal Qadeer in the initial investigations has admitted to being involved in some crimes, Aloko added.
Earlier some members of Wolesi Jirga, lower House of the Parliament, had said the arrest of Jamal Qadeer had political aspects but Mr. Aloko declined the claims, saying he will not surrender to the pressures.
The Nangarhar Council has also announced Jamal Qadeer’s arrest as illegal, demanding his release.
