Attacks nullified, insurgents detained: NDS

An insurgent group has been detained that had planned to disrupt the recent regional conference in Kabul, NDS officials said Sunday.

During a press conference in Kabul, deputy National Directorate of Security (NDS) spokesman, Shafiqullah Taheri, said two rebels were arrested before reaching their targets of attacking an Afghan Military Center to disrupt the day of ‘Heart of Asia’ ministerial conference, held last Thursday in Kabul.

Taheri added the rebels had plotted to carry also some simultaneous attacks in the conference day in southern Kandahar and northern Kundoz provinces.

Reporting of changing war tactics of rebels, the NDS official said the insurgents were planning of using auto rickshaws and other cheap sources to carry some different attacks.

NDS spokesman also reported of Tajikistanis getting insurgent trainings in Pakistan, saying an insurgent group, Ansarullah, was providing terrorist attack trainings to Tajikistanis in Waziristan, northern area of Pakistan, for carrying attacks inside Tajikistan.
