So far Afghanistan has not been able to secure individuals: Karzai

Mon Dec 19, 1:05 pm

Afghanistan has achieved political stability but still has not been able to secure individuals, President Karzai said in an interview with CNN.

During the last ten years, Afghan and international forces have been able to limit Taliban’s activities and require more time to maintain peace and security in country, President Karzai said.

While talking about international forces’ night raids, President Karzai said that night raids should be carried out in coordination with Afghan forces, and international troops must prevent raiding Afghan homes during night.

“We have discussed the topic for long time and objected since almost eight years; we want the villages and Afghan residents to be secured of the attacks and the only thing we request that foreign forces should not enter into Afghan’s homes, President Karzai said.”

Foreign forces’ night raids that often result in civilian killings are a controversial issue between Afghan government and its international allies.

While talking about the release of Mrs. Gul Naaz who was sentenced 12 years ago President Karzai said that she was released after consultation with Afghan justice institutions.

Afghanistan would never move towards tension, crisis and injustice after the withdrawal of international forces from country, President Karzai stressed.

President Karzai ensured that there won’t be any crisis and injustice after the withdrawal of international forces from Afghanistan.

These statements come as International troops are supposed to quit Afghanistan in 2014 and handover security responsibilities to Afghan forces.

There are concerns that Afghan forces may not maintain peace and security after withdrawal of international troops.
