Delays in signing the strategic agreement between Afghanistan and the United States have weakened investor resolve and have caused some investors to leave Afghanistan, Dr. Khalilzad said.
Dr. Zulmai Khalilzad, the former US Ambassador to Afghanistan, addressed a press conference on Wednesday in Kabul. He said, “A strategic cooperation agreement between Afghanistan and the United States of America can help reduce the current crisis in Afghanistan because this country is not yet capable of handling all of its issues.”
He added, “The Americans have conceded to not to go searching in civilian homes while doing night-raids, and have agreed to only support the Afghan soldiers logistically.”
During the press event, he urged the Afghan people to benefit from the experiences of other countries; to not be indifferent towards political developments; and to contribute to the reconstruction of Afghanistan in order to make it a strong and powerful country in the region and in the world.
