Afghan prisoners to be transferred from Tajikistan to Afghanistan

Based on the agreement between Tajikistan and Afghanistan so far, 265 Afghan prisoners have been transferred from Tajikistan to Afghanistan and during the next two weeks some other Afghan prisoners would also be brought to the country, officials said.
The Director of Monitoring of Detention Centers Aziz Ahmad Sarbaz said soon an Afghan delegation would visit Tajikistan for paving ground for the transfer of remaining Afghan inmates to their country.
Based on the decree of Presidential House about 58 prisoners, charged with several crimes, were released from Pol-i-Charkhi jail in the occasion of Mujahedeen’s Victory Day.
Head of Kabul appellate prosecution office Muhammad Sharif Sharifi said after reviewing the cases of the inmates, whose imprisonment term were remaining from one month to two years, were released in accordance with the Presidency decree.
The freed-inmates expressed gladness to their release, saying after now they will never go for any illegal steps.
The prosecutors said the crime rate had gone high because of the economic and social problems in the country.
