9 killed, 17 injured in suicide attack near Jalalabad Airport

At least 9 people including three ANA soldiers were killed and 17 others were wounded in a suicide attack that took place on Monday in eastern Nangarhar province just outside the Jalalabad Airport.
According to ISAF media office in east Afghanistan, 2 suicide bombers, who intended to cross the security check points and enter the airport, were recognized and stopped by the security forces before entering the airport.
The ISAF statement added the first suicide attacker blew his explosives inside a car in front of the security gate and soon after the incident, the other suicide bomber also denoted his explosives at the same place.
According to Interior Ministry, 6 civilians, 2 security guards and an ANA solider were killed in the incident, adding 17 other people including 6 Afghan soldiers and 4 foreign soldiers were wounded in the attacks.
The Taliban has claim responsibility for the attack. They claimed that dozens of ANA and foreign soldiers were killed. Taliban said that the attack was in retaliation for the desecration of Holy Quran by the U.S. soldiers at Bagram Airbase.
In the other reports, ISAF officials stated that plans to poison U.S. soldiers on a military base on the Torkham Pak-Afghan border have been foiled.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed an Afghan cook had poisoned meals distributed to US troops, resulting in the deaths of several American soldiers. The Taliban claims were denied by the ISAF officials.
