5 militants perished in Badakhshan

A policeman and five insurgents were killed in the armed clashes in Wardoj district of northeastern Badakhshan.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman of governor of Badakhshan, Abdul Maroof Rasekh, said that in the conflict two policemen and scores of insurgents were injured.
He added the clashes took place late Thursday night after the militants attacked a security check-post.
According to Rasekh, the situation was controlled and the forces were positioned back to their shells.
Wardooj is considered among the unsafe areas of northeastern Badakhshan province and has repeatedly witnessed insecurity events.
