30 more girls poisoned at Jawzjan School

In yet another case of school poisonings, about 30 girl students of Baba Ali High School were poisoned Sunday in northern Jawzjan province.

The poisoned girls complained of throat irritation, nausea, vomiting and overall body aches, said the health officials of Jawzjan civilian hospital.

Doctors said blood samples of the affected girls were sent to Kabul laboratories.

Deputy Governor of Jawzjan, Faqeer Muhammad Jawzjani, confirmed the most recent case of poisonings and said the poisoned girls were quickly shifted to the hospital through ambulances.

Until now, the motivation behind the poisoning of the girl students has not been stated and no one was has been arrested in this regard, Jawzjani said.

The provincial security officials said large numbers of police have been assigned to control the situation and provide better security.

During the past week, it was the third case of poisoning of schoolgirls in Jawzjan. In the first two cases, about 500 students were poisoned.
