11 people were killed & wounded in a mine blast in Herat

At least 1 woman was killed and 10 others were wounded in a mine blast opposite to the building of Herat Police Commander-ship. This is the second incident occurred in Herat City after the transference of security responsibilities to Afghan Forces. Officials of Herat City declared Taliban, responsible for the incident. In less than a week, two mines are blasted in Herat City in which 2 soldiers of National Armies are killed and 18 other wounded.

Herat Police said: Armed Insurgents planted a mine near to Grand Mosque opposite to building of Herat Police commander-ship. Barakat-ullah Muhammady responsible of Emergency Department of Herat’s Hospital said: One dead body of a woman and 10 wounded are brought to the hospital and two of wounded are seriously injured. Two journalists were beaten by police soldiers after the incident occurred. Wounded people accused Herat Police for security negligence for the citizens.

These wounded people demanded Taliban Militants to stop their violence in the Holly Month of Ramadan. Zone Commander of Ansar 606 some days earlier had announced Military operations against insurgents in the City. Gen. MAhmoodi zone commander of regional police stressed that: Taliban are trying to insecure the regions to display the incapability of Afghan Forces to whom security responsibilities are transferred. Governor of Herat Province stressed:

Herat Province will face security challenges until the citizens cooperate with security officials to bring security stability.
