10 armed militants renounce violence in Faryab Province

A group of 10 armed men renounced violence and joined government in Northern Faryab province. The group was led by Qari Rahmatullah and has been active in Faryab for the last 13 years.
Qari Rahmatullah joined government along with 9 of his men in Maimana city of Faryab province and they have committed to support government in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
Faryab governor Abdul Haq Shafaq said, “So far 170 armed men have renounced violence and joined the peace process. The government has provided job facilities to 40 of them,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mr. Shafaq said, Government is seeking to provide job facilities to more than 100 opponents who have recently joined the peace process.
He added that government has distributed food items to over 100 armed militants who have renounced violence.
