Russia to invest in gas & energy transfer through Afghanistan

Russia wants to invest in the sectors of gas and energy transfer from Central Asia to South Asia through Afghanistan.
Finance Ministry Spokesperson Mr. Aziz Shams said, “Russian officials, at first meeting of Afghan Russian Joint Economic and Trade Cooperation, committed that Russia will invest in different sectors in Afghanistan”.
According to Aziz Shams, “Most Russian investors want to invest in the sectors of gas and energy transfer from Turkmenistan and Tajikistan to India and Pakistan through Afghanistan”.
He added, “Russian investment in the sectors of gas and energy transfer will profit both Russia and Afghanistan”.
The Afghan Russian Joint Economic and Trade Cooperation was formed by mutual agreement of both states in June 2011, after President Karzai formal visit to Russia.
According to official statistics, Russian export to Afghanistan during last few years has increased by 70 percent. Similarly, the trade exchanges between the two countries have reached over 500 million dollars.
