Pakistan has responded to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s recent remarks who called Islamabad for comprehensive political talks in his Eid message on Friday.

President Ghani said that Afghanistan was ready for talks, “Peace with Pakistan is in our national agenda.”

“We already have bilateral, trilateral, quadrilateral and multilateral mechanism for dialogue and interaction with Afghanistan in place,” Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

In the statement it was also said that Pakistan wants to see peace and stability in Afghanistan and Islamabad will contribute and play its due role in all the initiatives taken to that end.

It comes as Pakistan has always been accused for harboring and financing terrorist groups in its soil against Afghanistan, a charge Islamabad denies.
