IHRC Announces Sharp Rise in Cases of Violence Against Women in Afghanistan

The Independent Human Rights Commission (IHRC) has voiced deep concern over the increase in cases of violence against Afghan women and called it shocking.

Chairman of the IHRC, Dr. Sima Samar in a press conference declared that the Afghan women even suffer sexual harassments in the security institutions.

“Most of the Afghan women cannot register their violence cases due to insecurity,” said Sima Samar.

In the first ten months of the current year, the IHRC has registered nearly 3778 cases of violence against women in the country which 1351 of them were physical violence.

The IHRC released its new statistic today 25 November which coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

According to the reports of IHRC, of the 1351 cases of physical violence, 1003 of them were beating, 10 of them were burning and 231 of them were murder which 6 of them were carried out by the armed oppositions of the government in the field trails.
