Ghani Warns Against Interference in Judiciary Institutions

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday reiterated that government will not allow any interference in legal and judicial system of the country.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the Fifth Afghanistan Attorneys Forum in Kabul, Ghani said that no one, including the president, should try to intervene in justice sector’s decisions.

He also warned local powerful individuals and ilegal armed men of imprisonment if act irresponsibly. 

Some high level government officials including Attorney General Farid Hamidi, Acting Interior Minister, Wais Ahmad Barbak were also attended the ceremony.

 Hamidi said that it will be a tough ask to address rights of the people and ensure justice in most of the districts in the country.  

“There is no justice in the districts which we have no presence, and one of the aims of this conference is to maintain justice in rural areas of the country,” he said.

At the event, Barmak also pledged of working with the AGO to ensure security of the attorneys in the districts and rural areas.
