Attackers Storm Police HQ in Paktia, Kill Five, Wounds Nine

As many as five policemen were killed and nine more wounded in insurgents attack on Sunday morning on the police headquarter in Gardez city of eastern Paktia province, according to a local security source.

The assault was followed by five attackers at around 06:50 a.m., one of the attackers detonated his explosives packed in car at the entrance of the police headquarters and paved way for the rest to get inside.

The provincial governor’s spokesman, Abdullah Hasrat said at least one policeman was killed and two more were wounded in the incident; however, a security source told Ariana News that the attack left five policemen dead and nine injured.

The assault ended after all five attackers have been gunned down, the source added.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
