CaptureA new report suggests a number of attackers on Shahin corps, one of the mobilized military compounds in northern Afghanistan were soldiers of the compound.

Based on new details, the attackers crossed three internal checkpoints of the corps, where security guards of the third gate told the attackers to hand over their weapons. Attackers dressed with ANA forces uniforms refused to do so and instantly open gunfire on the guards.

According to sources, the attackers soon raided the support unit of the corps with RPGs and head to the main point; the majid, where a roughly 500 soldiers were busy Friday prayers, the sources disclosed.

However, experts blame poor intelligence for the deadly raid.

Yarmand, an ex aide for MOI said, “How did they cross the checkpoints? How the reaction unit could not responded to the raid. It all shows the lack of intelligence.”

According to sources, attackers were fairly familiar with vulnerable points of the corps, as they were once soldiers there.

Amar Khel, a former military commander stressed, “It is a clear sign of intelligence incapability. If they had preventive intelligence of the attack, it could have been prevented. Meanwhile, the security officials never learned any lessons of such attacks in the past.”

After so many deadly attacks on security forces with shocking causalities, the presidential palace ordered secret agents should be placed amongst ANA forces; but sources say that the chief of staff’s office avoided such move.
