Afghanistan Fails to Use Opportunities of TIR System: ACCI

TIR 10-5-2017-DARI-SOT.mpg_snapshot_00.05_[2017.05.10_18.29.48]Afghanistan Ministry of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) says Afghanistan fails to use the opportunities of Transit International Road (TIR) system despite having its membership.

Deputy of ACCI, Younis Mahmand said, “the government did nothing to use the opportunities of TIR system. Professional drivers should have been trained and learned an international language.”

ACCI officials asked the Ministry of Transport to inform transportation companies about the TIR system.

The Ministry of Transport says the biggest obstacle against TIR system is the insecurity problem and lack of standard highways.

Deputy minister of transport, Sayeed Wali Sultan said, “we formed a committee and are trying to jointly solve the problems.”

Transportation analyst, Ghawsuddin said, “If the government wants to implement principles of TIR system, it should solve the highways and customs problems.”

Afghanistan play very important rule in the TIR system because of its geographic location which connects south Asia with north Asia.

Afghanistan connects with 57 countries by road through joining TRI (Transit international road system).

Through this system Afghan cargos can transport to 57 Asia and European countries without any problem.
