Afghanistan Beach Soccer Team Beats China After Heavy Defeat vs Japan

footballAfghanistan has advanced to the quarter final of the 5th Asian Beach Olympic 2016, after overcoming the Chinese squad in the group stage of the tournament.

Afghan squads who witnessed a heavy defeat against Japan yesterday, returned to the competitions to be in eight top teams, by wining China team 9-6.

Hazrat Gul Baran, Samiullah Muhammadi have scored hat-ricks for the Afghan national team, while Jamil Naseri, Hamidullah Gulzar and Zaynuddin Sharifi produced a goal each.

About 3,000 athletes are to converge on the Vietnamese resort town of Danang this weekend for the Asian Beach Games, vying for glory in events ranging from Indian contact sport kabaddi to wrestling and volleyball.

The biennial event will see 22 disciplines contested on a 7km stretch of sand at the tourist town in central Vietnam, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) said.

The Games, which run until Oct. 3, give prominence to athletes and sports from Asian nations who do not normally make the podium at the Olympics or World Championships.
